The Department of Chemical Engineering plans to offer a Master of
Science (MS) degree (non-thesis) through distance education (DE)
beginning Spring 2003. This non-thesis program will have the same
course content and admissions requirements as the on-campus graduate
program but will offer flexibility for off-campus individuals to
obtain an MS in 3-5 years.
The courses for this program will be offered through a
combination of the video-based and web-based technology and in
co-ordination with the Engineering Online
program of the College of Engineering. Several distance education
courses are currently being offered by the Chemical Engineering
Department while more courses are planned for the future. The
distance education course offerings include several core Chemical
Engineering courses as well as electives spanning polymers,
biotechnology, environmental science and electronic materials.
Students can take these courses individually or as part of the MS
degree program.
