Assessments
The “Sustainability, Energy, and Engineering” (SEE) assessment process and associated instruments will provide critical feedback for ongoing improvements of the program from year to year. The primary assessment instruments include a series of roundtable discussions led by a faculty member outside of the program and several on-line journaling assignments undertaken by the participants. In the proposed Site, the assessment tool will be actively exported to new and existing REU programs for their utilization. The success of the Program is defined in terms of three factors: (1) skills and knowledge in SEE, (2) attitudes towards research, and (3) programmatic issues. The key elements of the assessment protocol are Round Table Discussions, pre- and post-program questionnaires, journal entries, and the final project report. Both qualitative and quantitative methods will be employed to assess the data.
